Jennie Fleming | Civic Studies

March 4 – April 13, 2016 [new closing date]

Opening reception March 4, 5:00-9:00 pm.

540 Telfair Street, Augusta, GA 30901

Civic Studies is a series of individual works, installations, and hacktivisms; with subtopics addressing community, urban development, suburbia, and regionalism. In short, the works are explorations of being in place, along with the social, political, and ecological dynamics that come along with living in our places.

As a member, Fleming will develop Downtown Block Studies: Augusta over the course of the eight-week exhibition as part of the co-working space experience. The project is a larger-than-life-size version of a sketchbook that explores the past and present of sixteen consecutive blocks in downtown Augusta. The Clubhouse’s Beer & Bytes on Wednesdays (5:30-7:00 pm, March 9 – April 27) will be the perfect opportunity to catch up on the project’s development, join in the dialogue, and get to know downtown Augusta better.

UPDATE: Due to unforeseen scheduling issues, the exhibit is closing two weeks earlier, and the weekly updates for Downtown Block Studies will be presented at a closing event on Wednesday, April 13, 5:30-7:00.
